| The Games Club announcement The Games Club (Monday) |
| Effective Immediately
The Games Club will not be running events on Mondays for the foreseeable future.
It was felt that the venues available for a regular Monday event didn't provide the quality of play experience we want associated with The Games Club, so we are now consolidating all non-FNM play to Tuesdays at County Hotel (Upper Woburn Place, WC1H 0JW).
As part of this consolidation we will be sanctioning and reporting all play taking place at The Games Club on a Tuesday, including any casual play, Commander/EDH, Legacy and Standard (plus additional formats based on player requirements), regardless of player numbers.
This will give our regular players access to a greater opportunity of significantly increasing the total number of Competitive Planeswalker Points earned each week, whilst still allowing The Games Club to maintain a superior venue and deliver an improved Organised Play experience. |

| The Games Club artist signing 12/07/08 |
Wayne Reynolds will be making squiggles, practicing his signature, selling prints/proofs/originals and generally inspiring amazement at this Eventide Pre-release Event in London on Saturday, 12th July 2008. Wayne Reynolds was born in Leeds, and attended art college in Dewsbury and Middlesborough, leaving with a HND Distinction. After a spell alternating freelance work (Chaosium, Iron Crown Enterprises) with work for a sign painting company, he settled for a few years as a concept artist in the computer games industry. However, the lure of freelance art proved too strong, and he returned to work as an independent illustrator in 1998. Wayne has most recently illustrated the covers of the new Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition core rule books.

Artist Signing - Lorwyn Pre-release Event
John Avon will be making squiggles, practicing his signature, selling prints/proofs/originals and generally inspiring amazement at this Lorwyn Worldwide Pre-release.
www.johnavon.com John lives just outside Brighton, East Sussex, England. His wife (Patricia McCarthy) is an established illustrator, and his true best friend. They have two boys, Laurie aged 10 and James aged 7 who are brilliant and already love to draw and paint. John's main hobby is music, he plays guitar, piano, and enjoy attempts at home recording. John loves to read and go walking on the nearby downland or by the sea. Occasionally John feels like an alien on this mad mad planet, but is privileged to have some great friends who understand when he's "off world..." and just leave him to it!

Open Duelling - Lorwyn Pre-release Event For newer and casual players the thought of playing at a tournament can sometimes be a little off-putting, although it doesn't need to be like that this weekend, where you can sidestep the Pre-release tournament altogether.
You won't need to worry about building a Sealed Deck or about playing against players whose experience is greater than your own. We will have a limited (but ample) supply of Lorwyn pre-constructed decks (Theme Decks) for Open Duelling. This is a fairly new idea designed specifically for new and less experienced players.
Open Duelling costs £7.50 to enter, and for that a player will receive one of five Lorwyn Theme Decks. Players will be randomly paired with five other players and upon completion of five matches everyone who participates will receive a foil promo card and one Lorwyn booster pack. It doesn't matter whether you win or lose... it just matters that you play the game.
Players in Open Duelling can also play their deck against players taking part in a main event as well. (If you are in the main event and have a couple of minutes between rounds try and make yourself available for a game or two. And if you do... try and remember something critical you learned while playing Magic and share it. It could be about playing instants at the end of your opponent's turn or the nuances of putting damage on the stack or an introduction to card advantage.)
This is a great introductory experience for playing Magic in a competitive setting that will provide players with a completely built deck, possibly some new friends, and over the course of five matches a pretty good idea about the themes and mechanics of Lorwyn. More here... |

Introduction Team Constructed tournaments use Unified Deck Construction rules: With the exception of basic land cards, a teams combined decks and sideboards may not contain more than four of any individual card, counted by its English card title. (For example, if one player has four main-deck Naturalizes in a Team Constructed event, no other player on that team may have a Naturalize in his or her deck or sideboard.) If a card is restricted in a particular format, no more than one of that card may be used by the team. No players may use cards that are banned in a particular format. More here... |
